A Western Family Odyssey - a little bit of music thrown in

Creative packing required for the family trip/flight out to western Canada. Packing list included gear for urban exploration as well as camping equipment for our adventures in the mountains and on the coast. Hiking boots, Vans, and sandals for one trip (and that's just the footwear). To complicate things further, our largest carry-on knapsack was stuffed with foot pedals, patch chords and a few CDs - music stuff, at least some of it! Thankfully, Long and McQuade (in both Edmonton and Vancouver) was well-stocked with rental music equipment and I finally got a chance to perform with a Gibson J45 acoustic guitar in both cities. For you gear heads you'll know what a treat it is to play this workhorse of guitars. Thanks so much everyone for coming out in high summer to see me play. Shawn De Raaf, Ali Gresik and Kevin Zakresky...thanks again for making the Chancel Concert a sweet reality. A pleasant surprise to be blown away by one of your local treasures, Illiteratty. Thank you to my uber supportive Edmonton family for showing up at The Almanac. A shout out to cousin Ann Vriend for hooking me up with Rebecca Lappa.

All in all, a magnificent trip that was made all the sweeter with a bit of music in the mix.

Feels like it's time to get back to the basement to bash away at some new songs.
