Most of the time, I have a tough time grappling with suffering, especially on the scale of a massive earthquake like the one in Nepal. My default response to the violent intrusions into peoples' lives is usually one of immediate empathy - if not pity - but that emotional charge sometimes fades to a desensitized resignation.
So I'm waging a small skirmish against my ambivalence by donating all proceeds from Low Country Hill CD and download sales to World Vision Canada's relief efforts in Nepal until May 15. I'm very happy to support World Vision Canada and can personally attest to their diligent and sensitive pursuit to relieve suffering in the most vulnerable places in the world (my life partner Stacia is a long-time World Vision aid worker). I think they have a healthy sense of solidarity wherever they work.
If you know someone who might be interested in buying the record (in their medium of choice), this would be a good time to do it!
